On Friday, August 24, 2001 at the Shaver Hospital, 84 years of age. John will be sadly missed by his children Joanne Frank of Los Angeles, CA, Eric & Donna of St. Catharines, Donna Birmingham of St. Catharines, and Paula and Allan Muir of Lincoln, and their mother Josephine. Dear grandpa to his grandchildren Steven, Jennifer, A.J., and Mitchell, and to his great grandchildren Emily and Joshua. Brother of the late Tom of Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, the late Lillian Jamieson of Boston, Mass, the late Harriet Strong of Lynn, Mass, the late James, the late Andrew, and the late Beth Cullen all of St. Catharines. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Birmingham was a member of St. Julia Church, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24, the R.C.A.F. 143 Airfield & 144 Airfield, Senior NCO Transport and Supervisor, and active in Alcoholics Anonymous.
Mr. Birmingham is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. until Monday at 9am. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Julia Church at 9:30am. Cremation to follow. Visiting hours Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 8:30pm. Memorial remembrances to the Hotel Dieu Oncology Clinic would be appreciated by the family.
