To a man I grew to love like a father and a friend. We went through many good and bad times together. From you losing your beautiful wife Elizabeth after sixty years of marriage and your health starting to get worse, we had a lot of fun times too. I really didn't think I would see this day. You were a fighter and did everything in your power to keep going. At your age you put me to shame. Everyday I would see you going for your long walks, working in the yard and even though your eyesight was getting worse, you were determined to get your driver's license back. You really enjoyed food and always made sure you had at least 3 meals a day, if not more. We cried a lot together, but we laughed a lot more. When I feel down I think about the time we went to the hospital for a test you had to have. As we got off the elevator you flipped your cane and hit a doctor (well I think everyone can figure out were he got hit). We sat in the waiting room down stairs for our ride home and we were both laughing so hard I think they wanted to ask us to leave. That is the day that I will always remember! I love you Gus and will never forget you! You made me a better person for knowing you. I will miss you, but now you are back with your true love Elizabeth. Love Debbie.
