Swackhammer, Errol Donald It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Errol Swackhammer in his 86th year at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines on Tuesday, March 5, 2002. Beloved husband, companion and card partner for nearly 63 years to Muriel. Devoted Father to Marjorie (Maggie) Palmer, Don and Jane of Burlington, Claude and Susan of Kingston. Poppa will be sorely missed by his grandchildren: Bruce & Pam, Richard & Debbie, Elizabeth & Kirk, Stephanie, Sarah & Jason, Krista, Nicholas & Erin and his great grandchildren Samantha, Jessica, Calista, Bailey, Breagh and Hogan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Byron, son-in-law Steve Palmer and great grandson Jack Macdonald. Errol retired from International Harvester in 1974 after 37 years. He was a member of the Dunlop Senior Citizens Centre, the Doric Euchre Club, and Grace Anglican Church. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the Royal Canadian Navy. While he was president of the Winona Men's Club in 1967 the Winona Peach Festival was founded. His gift for making us laugh, his wonderful sense of humour, his caring ways and loving devotion to his family and friends will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace Dad, we will miss you. Mr. Swackhammer is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines where the family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Service to celebrate his life will be held at Grace Anglican Church, located at Geneva St. & the South Service Rd., St. Catharines, Saturday at 11am. Cremation to follow.
