Obituary of Samuel Straiko
Straiko, Samuel - On Monday February 11, 2002 at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, at 85 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Eleanor (1988). Loving father of Doreen and Karen & Brian Koziar. Predeceased by his daughter Patricia and her husband Fred Ovis. Gigi of Gary, Darren, Sandra, Adam, Mark and Amy. Great grandfather of Kiara. Survived by his sister Stella of Brantford. Predeceased by his brothers Michael, Orist and his sister Ann.
Samuel worked in the mines of Sudbury, he was the proprietor of a grocery-butcher store in Thorold South. He retired from Beaver Wood Pulp and Fiber Mill in 1977. Samuel will be remembered as a gentle man and a loving father. He was well respected and loved by both family and friends.
Mr. Straiko is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. until Thursday at 10:00am. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10:30am.
Rite of committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Panachyda will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00pm. Visiting hours are Tuesday 7-9pm and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9pm.
