Obituary of Richard Bruce Thomson
THOMSON, Richard Bruce - passed away peacefully in his home Monday, January 28th. at the age of 49, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lovingly remembered by his children, Adrian, Tassie (John), Amy and Andrew, and their mother Jane Hanlon. Predeceased by his father Bruce (2001), sadly missed by his mother Jeanne, brothers Wayne (Anne), and David (Lindsay), sister Cheryl (Stuart) and cherished friend Denise Alvarez. He will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. Sadly missed by four-legged friends, Midnight, Rugrat and Squeak.
Born and raised in Oshawa, Rick moved to St. Catharines in his teens. A loyal employee of General Motors for 26 years, Rick loved telling jokes, doing crosswords, driving, walking the dog and dreaming of owning a boat. Rick was a loving and devoted father, a caring brother and son. He had a great spirit, an exceptional sense of humour and touched the lives and hearts of everyone around him.
The family invites all to celebrate his life and share their memories of Rick. Visitations will be held on Friday, February 1st. from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2nd. at 10 am at the George Darte Funeral Home in St. Catharines. A reception and further celebration will be held at Rick's home following the service. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
