Obituary of Melvin Smith

SMITH, Melvin On Monday, June 17th, 2002 in his 77th year, Melvin passed away and crossed over to be reunited with his wife of 52 years, Lena, who passed away March 26th, 2002. Born in Perlican, NFLD., he was the son of the late George Smith and Eliza George. Survived by his loving daughters Shirley (Bud), Audrey (Ken) Jones, Cindy (Rick) Fitt, Judy Burt (Joe), Linda (Brian), Maggie and sons Brian (Tammy) and Jim. Also survived by 11 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, sisters Marg MacDonald and Beatrice Andrews of Sydney, N.S. Predeceased by his son George, daughter Brenda, and 2 Grandchildren. Mr. Smith is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. A Service to celebrate his life will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 11:00am. Cremation to follow. Visitation Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. If so desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
