Obituary of Robert T. Haworth
Haworth, Lt. Col. Robert T. C.D. (Retd.)
On Thursday, January 16, 2003 at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. A native of Lancashire, England, he was a member of the Royal Navy during the Second World War. Following that, he served with the British Colonial Service in Palestine and Hong Kong achieving rank of Police Inspector. Also a proud and longstanding member of the R.C.E.M.E. in which he earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Beloved husband of Nancy and dear brother of Rene Barkworth of Houston, Texas. Loving father of Mandy Beauchamp of St. Catharines; Vivian (Wes) O'Connor and Bill (Tuula) Haworth, all of Vancouver. Sadly missed by grandchildren Alyssa, Jacques and Emily of St. Catharines; Erica of Victoria, B.C.; Nicholas, Kristina and Matthew of Vancouver B.C. Predeceased by his sons Andrew (January 2000) and Peter (November, 1975). Step-father to Susan (John) Pruyn, Tom (Karen) Kretz, Jim (Linda) Kretz, Paul (Darlene) Kretz, Linda (Swede) Burak, Don Kretz, Mary Ann (Terry) Wright, Jane (George) Lindsay and Gordon (Tracey) Kretz, and grandfather to all of their children.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 350, (57 Lakeport Rd., St. Catharines) on Saturday, January 18, 2003 from 11am to 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 350. Arrangements have been entrusted to the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St.
