Obituary of Anna Ternowski

Ternowski, Anna On Thursday, January 9, 2003 at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, Anna Ternowski passed away in her 97th year. Born July 1, 1906 in Ukraine in the village of Ilowcha, district of Ternopol. Leaving her parents, brothers, and sisters behind she came to Canada in 1927 settling in Manitoba-Marco Rossburn area. There she married John Ternowski who predeceased her in 1966. She came to St. Catharines in 1967 to be with her daughter. Beloved mother of Anna (Harry) Maskiw of St. Albert, Alberta, Joe (Annie) of Winnipeg, Steve of Birtle, Manitoba, Peter (Jean) of Carberry, Manitoba, Paul (Angel) and Ellen of St. Catharines. Predeceased by an infant daughter Katherine. Dear grandmother of Arnold, Linda, Joanne, Kenneth, Henrietta, and Patricia. There are 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters in Ukraine. Surviving are many nieces and nephews in Ukraine. Anna thoroughly enjoyed living for her family, friends, and church. A founding member of St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church, she took great pride and joy in crocheting and embroidering altar cloths - thus making God's home a more beautiful place. She also felt a strong obligation to support her hospital and Ukrainian organizations. Mrs. Ternowski is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., until Monday at 10am. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10:30am. Rite of Committal will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday 2-4 & 6:30-9pm. Panachyda will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 7pm. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances to St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family. Thank you God, for allowing Mother to be with us so many precious years.
