Obituary of Dominic Kolbuc

KOLBUC, Dominic- July 2, 1918 - May 16, 2011 Passed away peacefully in his 93rd year at Linhaven Home in St.Catharines, where he was a resident since 2005. Dominic was predeceased by his parents Agnes Czekaj and Wojciech Kolbuc, his brothers John, Joe, Matt and his sisters Bernice Kriminski and Helen (Nellie) Rankin. Survived by his Brother in law, Alex Rankin of St.Catharines and 15 neices and nephews. Dominic proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces (Pictou Highlanders 1941-1946). Dom was a retired employee of The St.Lawrence Seaway where he had worked for 25 years. Prior to that he worked for General Motors, 10 years and ETF Tools for 2 years. An avid golfer, Dominic started out caddying at the St.Catharines Golf club and following his service in the Armed Forces was a member of Niagara on the Lake Golf club where he won the Club Championship in 1948. Dominic will be sadly missed by his family and dear friends. A special thanks to Dr.Wong, the nursing staff and personal support workers of Linhaven Home who helped make his last days most comfortable. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday at 11:00a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow.
