Obituary of Donald Kenneth Fleming

Fleming, Donald Kenneth Don passed away peacefully at home in his sixty-fourth year on Sunday, October 12, 2003, surrounded by his loving family. His courage and character never wavering despite a two year struggle with cancer. Donald was the beloved son of Alice and the late Arthur Fleming of Hamilton and beloved son-in-law of the late Albert and Lois Gate of Hamilton. He will be remembered as best friend and loving husband of 41 years to Sharon and as an incredibly proud and loving father of Dwayne and Pam, Darryl and Maristane, Derryk and Shellie, Danielle and Rob, Brad and Carol. Grandchildren Alyssa, Megan, Douglas, Taylor and a new grandchild due in January, will miss their proud grandpa very much. Donald was a beloved brother-in-law of Wayne and Joyce Gate of Westlake Village, California, Rodger and Edith Gate of Millgrove, ON and Bunnie and Glenn Woods of Stoney Creek, ON. He is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the U.S. Donald served as a police officer with the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force and as former Chief of Security for Firestone Canada until its closure. He finished his career serving with the Toronto Community Housing Authority. A memorial service to celebrate Donald's life will be held in the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Thursday October 16th at 12:00pm. Visiting hours are two hours prior. Memorial remembrances to Hotel Dieu Oncology Clinic, Juvenile Diabetes or V.O. N. Niagara would be appreciated by the family.
