Lowe, John JamesPeacefully, passed away after a lengthy illness on the morning of Sept. 28, 2003 at the St.Catharines General Hospital.John was predeceased by his parents Henry & Sarah and brother Tom Lowe.Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 51 years, Pauline; his children, Susanne McGill (Ken) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Randy (Lorri Evans) of Peterborough, Darrell and Cindy (Rob Epp), both of St.Catharines, his grand children, Shannon & Shawna McGill, Donovan Lowe, and Ryan, Cameron & Brandon Green; and numerous relatives, nephews, nieces and friends.John was born May 26, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA and moved at the age of five with his family to St.Catharines. At the age of 17, John enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces, , and served as an Intelligence Officer in World War II. After the war John met the love of his life, Pauline Berge, and they were married in 1946. John built the family home on Pelham Rd. where he and Pauline raised their family and have continued to live ever since. John also built the family cottage on Healey Lake where with family and friends they shared many memorable times.John enjoyed the outdoors , 'up north' where he loved to boat , fish , hunt and continuously upgrade the cottage.John was a tinsmith by trade. He worked in the plumbing and heating industry and for a number of years owned his own business. He was always willing to share his talents, forever helping family and friends and passing on his knowledge and skills to the 'younger' generation.John was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (MacTier and Port Dalhousie Branches).The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to all those who have provided support and care to John and Pauline and the family during his illness, in particular Jan, Carolyn, Colleen, Sharon, Laia, Jane, Kim and Aunt Marie.Friends may visit the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Tues. Sept. 30 and Wed. Oct. 1 from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm.The Royal Canadian Legion branch #350 will hold their service at 7:30pm Wed.Oct. 1,2003. The service honouring John's life will take place at the George Darte Funeral Chapel on Thurs. Oct.2, 2003 at 12:30 pm with interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.Reception to follow will be announced.Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation .
