Stanley Martin Goch

Obituary of Stanley Martin Goch

Goch, Stanley Martin-On September 16, 2003 Jesus and his angels have taken Stanley home to Heaven. With family at his side, Stan, husband, father and grandpa has found the peace he deserved. Born in Thunder Bay, December 4, 1935, Stan lived there until moving to St. Catharines with his family in 1945. He attended the St. Catharines Collegiate playing basketball and football. Upon graduation Stan started working on an apprenticeship at Thompson Products. His nature to help others and his work ethic led him to join the Ontario Provincial Police in 1960. His first posting was to Noelville, Ontario where he met and married the love of his life Colette (nee Daoust) in 1962. The Gochs moved to St. Catharines and were soon blessed with three children. Stan enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping, but always found the time to encourage and support his children and others in local sports and activities. He always had a joke to tell, or a complement to make, and lived to serve others. His guidance and zest for life will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Colette, loving children Denise Penner (Ralph), Michael (Debbie), and Stanley Jr. (Maura) Goch, his adoring grandchildren Mathew, Devin, Ryan, Jeremy, Madeline and Samantha. Stan is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives in Canada, the United States and Poland. He was predeceased by his sister Mary in infancy, father Martin Goch in 1973, his mother Bernice Glogowski in 1988, and his brother Arthur in 1994. A truly great addition in heaven. The family will be receiving friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines Friday between 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Alfred's Church Saturday at 10:30am. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made towards a park bench in Stan's memory. For more information please contact the George Darte Funeral Chapel at 905 937-4444.
