Obituary of Alfred (Fred) Baumann

BAUMANN, Alfred (Fred) Suddenly, on Saturday June 14, 2003 in his 84th year. Loving husband of Mary. Dear father of Richard and his wife Jane. Cherished grandfather of Douglas and Nicole. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Margaret Goger of Toronto and his cousin Alvina Singhuber. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Fred was a long standing member of Christ Lutheran Church. He immigrated to Canada in 1929 at the age of 9. He lived in Hamilton, working for Westinghouse as a tool and die maker. After moving to St. Catharines in 1941, he was employed by General Motors for several years. In 1945, Fred was a founding partner of F & B Tool and Die, retiring in 1986. Fred was an avid photographer and traveller. His extensive collection of slides captured much of Canada and the U.S. Fred is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. A Funeral Service to celebrate his life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 2:00pm. Rite of committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or your favourite charity would be appreciated by the family.
