Obituary of John Wensing

WENSING, John (Johannes) Peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2004 at the Hotel Dieu Hospital at the age of 74. Loving husband of Thea (Theodora). Beloved father of Dorothy (Geoff) Harvey. Dear grandfather of Matthew, Gregory and the late Katie. Brother of Willy, in the Netherlands. He will be sadly missed by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews in the Netherlands; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada. John and Thea came to Canada in 1953. He worked as a tool and die maker at General Motors for 33 years, retiring in 1988. John was an active member of the community. He served as president of Club The Netherlands for 15 years and in 1993 he was made a "Ridder in de order of Oranje Nassau." The family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Sunday from 7-9pm and Monday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Vigil prayers for the deceased will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 7:30pm.Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Denis Church on Tuesday at 11:00am. Rite of committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial remembrances to the Niagara Peninsula Children's Centre and Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre would be appreciated by the family.
