Obituary of Stewart Hughes

Hughes, Stewart James Roy : Peacefully with his loving family by his side ,at the St. Catharines General Hospital on April 26,2004 ,in his 82nd year passed away after a long illness. Survived by his wife of 62 years Sophie (Kowalski), son Denis(D) and Bonnie; Daughter Dianne(Paul Perron).Grandchildren Rob ,Matt and Andrea.He leaves to mourn sisters Grace Lee and Barbara Creelman and brother-in-law Frank Kowell. Predeceased by brother Harry and his wife Vonna, brother-in-law Dwight Lee, brothers and sisters-in-law John and Violet Kowalski, Joseph and Helen Kowalski and Walter and Mary Harris . Also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Stewart was employed for 44 years with Conroy Manufacturing Company later becoming Kelsey-Hayes. He was a veteran of WW II and a member for many years of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 24),then Port dalhousie (Branch 350). Stewart was also a member of The Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria and St. Alfred's parishes. Special thanks to Bunny and Greg Baker and Melissa Creelman. The family also appreciates the great care by the Doctors and 3rd floor nurses at the St. Catharines General Hospital, and the prayers and visits by Rev. Msgr. Vladimir Zivcic of the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria. Stewart is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL 585 Carlton St. until Thursday morning at 9:30am . Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Vigil Prayers will take place at the Funeral Home on Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at The Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria on Thursday at 10am. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If so desired donations to the charity of choice would be appreciated .
