Bernard, Wilfred Joseph On Tuesday, November 9, 2004 in his 85th year, Wilfred passed peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family. Survived by his wife of 57 years Margaret (Bigger), his daughters Carol (Phil) Ellis, Brenda (Cliff) Tattersall, Sandie (Pete) Wilhelm, Marcia (Bob) Connacher, Gwen Potter (Gerard Rouse), Amy (Jack) Uramowski. Grandchildren Trudy Tattersall (Murray Odesse), Glenn Tattersall, Tammy (Jason) Toth, David (Janet) Ellis, Jennifer Ellis, Aaron and Ian Connacher, Joe and Jake Potter, Jared and Andrew Uramowski, great grandchidren Chelsie and Baylea Toth and Padraic Odesse. Predeceased by grand-daughters Tricia Tremblay (1986), Megan Potter (1988); brothers: Arthur, Edmond, Henry and Fred, and sisters: Winnie, Gertie, Leona, Emma and Mary. Also survived by sister Catherine McAlduff, and brother Austin Bernard and many nieces and nephews. Wilfred retired from the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1985, was a volunteer firefighter in Port Dalhousie for over 25 years, a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 350 and a member of the Port Dalhousie Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He will be missed by many friends he has made over the years here, in P.E.I. and in Pennsylvania. Wilfred is resting at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. until Friday at 12:30 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in Star of the Sea Church, 34 Elgin St., Port Dalhousie at 1 p.m. with Rite of Committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting Hours Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home on Thursday. Many thanks to Dr. Hartman, visiting nurses, Glennys and Angela, Oncology, Palliative Care and CCAC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, CNIB or charity of your choice.
