Obituary of Robert Duncan Durward

Durward Robert D., C.A.: Suddenly at the St. Catharines General Hospital on November 8, 2004 in his 76th year. Born in Hamilton and educated in the Maritimes, Bob articled with Coopers Lybrand obtaining his C.A. designation in 1952. Returning to Ontario in 1954, he played a leading role in the development of a regional practice and ultimately became a founding Partner of the regional public accounting firm of Durward Jones Barkwell & Company. Bob was the loving husband and best friend of Bette for 52 years and devoted father of his loving daughter Sandy and late son David R. Durward (1979) and favourite brother-in-law of Lois Mitchell of Chatham, Ontario. Dearly loved by the Waddell Family especially Laura and Jennifer and his many godchildren, Bob will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his many friends and business associates. Bob was involved in numerous community activities including service as Executive Director of the Branscombe Family Foundation, Director of the local branch of the Red Cross and a long time member and officer of the Lions Club. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm . A service to celebrate Bob's life will take place in the Chapel on Friday at 11am. Memorial remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Red Cross or charity of choice would be appreciated.
