Obituary of Margaret Adelaide Kirkpatrick

Kirkpatrick, Margaret Adelaide (Phelan) Peacefully passed away at Chateau Gardens on September 6, 2004 in her 83rd year after a lengthy illness. Margaret was very proud of her family and strong in her faith. Predeceased by her husband, James W. (Kirk) Kirkpatrick (Oct. 22, 1978). Also predeceased by her parents, Vincent T. Phelan (1952) and Ada B. Farmer (1953), and by her brothers Jack (1966), Vincent (1991), Edward (1987), her sister Marie (1973) and her son-in-law John White (1989). She is survived by five children- James (Debbie), Kathy White, Linda (Bruce) Benninger, Msgr. Wayne, Kerry (Lori), and by eleven grandchildren- Jamie, Matthew, Adam, John Patrick, Ryan, Meaghan, Craig, Kirk, Colleen, Samantha and Steven. Also survived by nine siblings - Allan, Agnes (+James) Pepin, Helen (Leo) Clutterbuck, Patricia (+Ronald) Bevan, Ada (+Cliff) Paul, Paul (Lillian), Teresa (+Robert) Romeo, Gerald and Anne (Mel) Burtnik, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation is at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 316 Queenston St. Rite of Committal will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Past President of St. Mary's C.W.L., former member of the Diocesan C.W.L. Executive, St. Mary's choir member, member of the Laurier Liberals, she sold Avon, Beauty Counselor, and was a former employee of Raham's and the Lincoln County Separate School Board. She enjoyed painting and loved to shop. She was a stay at home Mom who enjoyed baking. Memorial Remembrances to the Alzheimer Society, Canadian Cancer Society or St. Thomas Aquinas Church; in lieu of flowers. Life is precious, remember to thank your parents and hold them proudly. Many thanks to CCAC's Wendy Chalmers, Meals on Wheels, Linhaven Day Program, to all her sisters, especially Teresa and Helen, for their assistance, to all her neighbours who watched over her, to Susan, her special friend/caregiver/shopper, and to the staff of Chateau Gardens for providing excellent care these past two and a half years. It has been a long but fond farewell. We will love you always.
