Savard, Raymond Left us unexpectedly Sunday, February 13, 2005 at Greater Niagara General Hospital in his 91st year. Predeceased by his wife of 42 years Loretta (1983) and second wife Jessie (2004). Loving father of Susan (Ernie) Kister of Pender Island, B.C., Richard (Jacquie) Savard of Bermuda, Janet Savard of St. Catharines, and Paul (Leslie) Savard of London. Proud grandfather of Stephanie, Siobhan, Angeline, Leah, Marcus and Kaitlin and great-grandfather of Ben, Toby and Bailey. Dear brother of Giselle Caroll, Colette Savard, Ivan Savard and the late Rita Keracher. Born in Quebec, Raymond grew up in St. Catharines. He worked as a skilled toolmaker for 36 years at Hayes-Dana and was active in his UAW Local 676 and their United Way campaigns. Following retirement he was an instructor for Niagara College. He was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Parish in Merritton where he was an enthusiastic choir member and leader in the Holy Name and St. Vincent de Paul Societies. He was pleased to be an active member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Raymond was happy to return to St. Catharines in 2002 after living in Lakeland, Florida for eight years. The family would like to thank the Heidehof Home Support staff for their care and concern. Mr. Savard is resting at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. until Friday at 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Alfred's Church at 11 a.m. with Rite of Committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting Hours Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 1:30-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home on Thursday at 2 p.m. If so desired, donations may be made in memory of Raymond to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
