Lisa & Colin: 27 Dec. 2004
We have just heard of the passing of your Dad and wish to extend to you our deepest condolences.
We met your Mum and Dad at Collingwood in the spring of 1961 when first your Dad arrived followed shortly thereafter by your Mum.We instantly "clicked" as friends and your Mum honoured my wife Ann by asking her to stand as her bridesmaid on a very happy June day with a small gathering of new immigrants.
We left Collingwood in Sept.for the East Coast then later to Ottawa and Thunder Bay.While as families we did not see much of each other over the years we always managed to stay "in touch" thro' annual Christmas notes and with your Dad through the "marine fraternity".
We were saddened when your Mum was taken so young and your Dad showed his true worth when he took full control--you must be very proud of him--his raising you as a family, his success in his marine career and of course the way he conducted his life--always the true gentleman.
Our condolences and our thoughts are with you and go back to our early days with your Mum & Dad.
Sincerely--- Ann and Les. Willis.

I had always admired uncle Alex and thought how much he looked like his father in stature and looks.Reading the condolences I see that he obviously took after him by being a true and loyal gentleman.
The last time I saw uncle Alex was in 1986 with his big smile yet it was only a short visit, I only wish I had been able to get to know him more.
Our thoughts our with you Lisa and Colin.

Colin and Lisa
I (including my mother) were very sorry to hear about your sudden loss. It came as a big shock. I'm sure it did for you too.
To our family, your father was seen as an achiever. He inspired me to push myself further in education and career. What I always remember is finding out that he and I went to the same technical college on Borough Road, Birkenhead over the water from Liverpool. Often I would imagine Alex going through the same doors each day, using the same library and food hall, 30 or so years before me and wonder what he might have been thinking at that time.
Even though I never knew Alex well, I do have fond memories of the five weeks, in the summer of 1981,when I stayed in St Catharines with the family. I had a fantastic time and still look at the photos.
Since then, I have gotten to know Colin much more as well as other cousins from my fathers side of the family.
By all accounts this was an untimely departure and we share your grief with you and our thoughts are with you at this time of year
Much love
Ian and Ethel

Wednesday morning 11.30.am. 22nd December, 2004. England.
ALEX ELLIOTT.
This message goes out to Lisa, Colin, and all of the other members of his family, and his friends in Canada. Alex was our brother-in-law, the husband of our sister Barbara, who sadly died some years ago.
The memory of Alex goes back a long way, even to the time when he visited Canada as a Boy Scout, representing Liverpool at a Jamboree held in Canada. It was always Alex aim to return, and become a full Canadian citizen, and with the support of his wife Barbars, he achieved that goal, in the 1960's.
Alex was a success as a member of his society, and played a full roll at home and in the work place. giving his time to some of the local charities in the St. Catherines area.
Eileen and I became somewhat separated from Alex in the latter years, apart from Christmas cards and recently through the e~mail system. Now our sympathies go out to all of you, be assured that you will be in our thoughts at this sad time, and in the following weeks.
I send on behalf of the Corkish and Donaghy families, our sincere best wishes, and all of our love.
Kindest regards,
Eileen and Graham. Pam, Fiona, Andrea, and Brian.
