Obituary of John Palka

PALKA, John Surrounded by his cherished family, John passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at Linhaven Home for the Aged, having just celebrated his 97th birthday. Beloved husband of Caroline for 67 years. Loving father of Stanley and father-in-law of Jenny. His gentle manner and glowing smile will be sadly missed by grandsons Christopher and Stanleigh and his fiancee Linda. Predeceased by brothers Joseph, Michael and Nicholas and sister Veronica. John farmed the vineyards of Niagara for many years before retiring. In retirement, his leisure time was spent oil painting and woodworking. He was a member of the Canadian Polish Society and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. John's family will receive relatives and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Monday from 6-9 p.m. A service in Celebration of John's Life will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in the Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Vigil prayers will be held on Monday at 7:15 p.m in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer's Society.
