Mr. Mahoney will always be remembered by his clients as
a laywer who treated them as if they were family, giving

I was an articling student with Sullivan Mahoney LLP between 2003-2004. Sincere sympathy goes to the family of Hugh, who was more than a lawyer and advisor to me. He helped me in sundry difficult situations and his advice was always correct. We soon established our relationship on a first name basis and I am very fortunate in having known him and profited immensely from his counsel. He will be sadly missed indeed. This is a sad time not only for the family, but surely for the many, many clients to whom he was a friend. But more than that: a great and wonderful and compassionate being has left us.
You will rejoice in knowing that Hugh has affected many lives in fundamental and humane and understanding ways.

Mahoney Family:
There are people who come along in a lifetime who one remembers as having a very positive effect.
Mr. Mahoney (never Hugh) gave me a chance when I needed one. I recall fondly my articles at Sullivan, Mahoney. I remember Mr. Mahoney's wisdom and guidance, and the confidence he inspired in his clients. I remember his practical approach, combined with technical expertise.
I hope the family still has the pen and ink my brother drew of the "old office" on King St. which I gave him on completion of my articles. He will be remembered.

It is with deep sadness and loss that we learned of Mr. Mahoney's death. My father Gerry Wooll and Mr. Mahoney were Rotarians together, business associates (both starting their businesses about the same time)and more importantly friends of long standing. Their mutual respect and admiration for each other was evident every time I saw them together...two large men with hearts of gold. Please know that My father and I share your grief. You are in our hearts and prayers.

I have a lot of great memories of your Dad, mother and the whole family. We had many years of fun (and getting in trouble) running around your house. Everytime I drive past the house and look over it brings back a lot of memories of all you kids, as well as your parents. I know my Dad always had the greatest respect for your father and spoke very highly of him. I mostly remember we'd get in trouble and he would say "Legare's, go home" while he dealt with you. I'm sure you will have many memories to carry you through this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My condolences to the Mahoney family. I will always have fond memories of the times we spent together in cold arenas wathing our children practice and play hockey for the Cathedral Parish teams in the CYO hockey league. We had great conversations during which I developed a liking and deep repect for Hugh. The world is certainly a better place for his having lived.
Sincerely,
