I remember as a child, my granny, Ellen Gray used to take me with her when she washed floors as Mr. Hawley's housekeeper when he lived on Welland Ave. in St. Catharines. My granny and grandpa (Norman Gray) also worked for Mr. Hawley when he bought the Breckenridge-Hawley House in NOTL. My grandpa was instrumental in remodelling the coach house and main house there. We still have old slides of work in progress then. He will be very much missed!

I was sorry to learn this week about Frank's death. He always was so genial and friendly any time we saw him at the Oban or the Golf Club - asking about us and remembering days at my Ansley Aunts' place in NOTL. Please accept our condolences for you and your family as you all recall a great man in his community. Sincerely from Randolph and Margaret Ferguson

My father, Ken Warwick, who is planning on attending the funeral, was a childhood friend of Frank's. They kept in touch a couple of times a year or so.
I remember visiting his home when he was living in the coach house and the pride and enthusiasm he showed in the restoration of the main house. He urged my parents to buy an old house in the Old Town, but they declined.
My father told me the story of Frank going to the train station and making notes and building a working model of a steam engine.
Every time I bicycled to the Old Town I'd think that some time I'll have to stop in and see Frank, but, regrettably, never did. My girlfriend and I did stop in in July of 2003, but, unfortunately, he wasn't in.
I will miss his love of history and his comments on politics and business. May he rest in peace.

I worked with Frank and under him and it was a privilege to know him.He was a very special person when I worked at Tylers I remember the intricate things he made like the locomative which sat in his window, and the scale machines he made which Tylers still have. I and a lot of people will miss him dearly.
Have a safe journey Frank.

May I express my condolences at the loss of Mr. Hawley. My father, the later James Pepin, and Mr. Hawley were good friends while they were both employed at W.S. Tyler and remained friends even after my dad retired. Even though my father has been deceased for 16 years, my mother, Agnes Pepin, kept in touch with Mr. Hawley, particularly at Christmas time. She was very saddened last evening when I called her to let her know of Mr. Hawley's passing.
I remember Mr. Hawley as a very gentle, humourous man, who was always very kind to my 5 siblings and myself. He attended all of our school graduation parties and also our weddings. In fact, I still have the crystal flower vase which he gave my husband and me for our wedding gift 36 years ago.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Sincerely,
Rita Mason
