Obituary of Maureen Frances Miron

Miron (nee Carty), Maureen Frances Maureen slipped peacefully away on May 4, 2005 at the Shaver Hospital in St. Catharines after battling Multiple Sclerosis for many years. She is the loving and much loved mother of Christopher and his fiancee, Katrina and Jeremy and his wife, Tania, cherished nana of Sydney, dear sister of Brian Carty and Patricia White and her husband, Donald, dear friend of Ed Boulay and sister-in-law of Els Carty. Maureen is also survived by several nephews and a niece both here and in the United Kingdom. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Mike Carty. Maureen had been an elementary school teacher with the Niagara Falls Separate School Board and later with the Lincoln County Separate School Board. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she set her sights on higher education and graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts. She also devoted much of her time to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities, having served on many committees and advisory boards. Maureen is resting at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. until Saturday at 9 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Niagara-on-the-Lake at 9:30 a.m. with Rite of Committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting Hours Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday at 8:30 p.m. Memorial Remembrances to Multiple Sclerosis or Shaver Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
