Petronela Kazimowicz

Obituary of Petronela Kazimowicz

KAZIMOWICZ, Petronela It is with great sorrow and joy that the family announces the passing of Petronela at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 with her family and priest praying at her side. Our sorrow lies in the loss of a cherished mamusia, babcia and babus. Our joy lies in the knowledge that she is with our Lord and reunited with her husband Piotr (1949). Babus' love, guidance, encouragement, inspiration and delicious cooking will be greatly missed by her children Joseph (Florence) Kazimowicz and Stasia (John) Lubanski, her grandchildren Terri Lubanski (Alan Holody), Roman Lubanski, Regina (Dan) Szymanski, Liz, Robert (Susan), Richard (Karen) Kazimowicz, and her beloved great-grandchildren Erik, Stasia, Jon, Peter, Diana, Alana, James, Michael, Katie and Mark. Born in Byblo, Poland on June 29, 1910, Babcia's experiences in Siberia, Asia, Africa and England during the Second World War strengthened her belief in the power of God, her love for her family, and her determined spirit, which inspired everyone she met. Arriving in Canada in 1957, Babus dedicated herself to helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Her cherished hands were never still, cooking, baking, sewing, stroking a child's head, tickling a tummy or fingering the beads of her rosary. In our hearts she will always remain our pillar of strength and inspiration. Petronela was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 418, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish. Petronela is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines. Her family will receive visitors on Sunday, April 17th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with vigil prayers at 7p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, April 18, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. J. Luce and Dr. W. Gruber, and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion, and Eleonora Burian for her help and friendship over the past eight years. In lieu of flowers, donations to the MS Society, NPCH are requested by the family.
