Dear Eileen and family,
We are truly saddened to hear about Guy and will miss the little visits that we used to look forward to with him on Manitoulin Island. We will remember him fondly as a kind, gentle and cheerful friend who will be sadly missed. Our thoughts go out to you in this very difficult time and we wish for you the strength and love of family and friends to help you through it. Unfortunately, we can't attend the service this Friday but hope there will be something for him sometime on the Island.
Sincerely,
Madeline and Terry Buckman and family

Eileen and Family,
Our deepest sympathy for the loss of Guy. Guy was a very special man, who had definitely left his mark on Manitoulin Island, with his devotion, hours of tireless work he so lovingly gave, and the sharing of his carpentry skills and knowledge in the restoration of the Big Lake School House. He leaves behind a rich legacy and a wonderful family whom we have had the pleasure of meeting. He was the "sheriff" of Young road, and always will be, and will be missed by all of us in the family and all those who knew him.
Sincerely,
Suzanne, Mark, and Anita

To Eileen and family:
I worked with Guy for many years at the Hydro but, I considered him a friend not just a co-worker. He was such a wonderful man!! I feel like I know all of you because he always talked about his wonderful family in such a loving way.
A few of us went to see Guy a couple of weeks ago and had a really good visit with him and his son and daughter-in-law. We talked and laughed about the fun we had in the good old days.I can't tell you how grateful I am that I got to see my old friend one last time. I will never forget him.
I am sincerely sorry for your loss.
Yours truly,
Sue Edwards

I feel deep felt compassion for your loss.....of such a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
I started working for the hydro in 1974 and Guy was one of the first that I met.
When you work with someone for so long and they are as nice a person as Guy was............you immediately feel like they are a good friend.
I shall always remember how KIND Guy was..........and helpful to all those around him.
I always kidded him about loving the same kind of music as I did...............as in his later years here at work......I would hear him playing it in the Control room (I worked in Engineering on the same floor as him here at work).
When my son passed away I received a card with the most beautiful note on it from Guy and Eileen and will always remember that.
I telephoned to their new home up north a few times and chatted with Guy after he left plus seen him at work when he dropped in to see us here a few times. A year or more could pass buy without seeing Guy..........but because of his wonderful friendly nature..........you always felt close to him............as if you had just had a conversation with him the day before.
That friendly nature and smile............and the twinkle in his eye.....always reflected his WONDERFUL PLEASANT nature.
I called to Eileen and Guy's home before they left for Florida last time to say hello to them and ask Guy how he was feeling. I think you were out shopping or something when I called Eileen. He was aware that I have done palliative care work and bereavement work for some years now. I so enjoyed how open he was to talk about his illness and his acceptance of the fact that he knew he was going to pass over to the other side. He shared with me his concern and how he wanted to make sure that he kept his children aware of it so that nobody would go into denial thinking he wasn't going to leave. I felt so proud of him when he shared that...........re that, even in the knowledge of his own illness and that he would die.........his main concern seemed to be for all of you....wanting you to be aware that he might die so that it wouldn't be such a shock at the end.
I had a visit with him when he was in the General Hospital and feel sooooooooo happy that I had that opportunity to see him. We had a nice chat...........and at one point when we were chatting about death.........I said to him "you are ready to go aren't you Guy"? He said that he was with the most calm voice ......that he was ready to go to the Lord. I am sure that Guy was welcomed and all in Heaven are blessed to have him there. I'm sure in this short time that he's been there............that he is probably helping out with some project going on up there (soft gentle smile)............as we all know how helpful he is.
Because Guy was French I always kidded him from day one and called him Chere'. You know him and his good nature.....he would just laugh when I did! :-)
He was one of my favourite co-workers here at the hyro.....he was one of the old boys..............always kind, always considerate and always a gentlemen.
I know that we will all miss him very much.
(For Connie: Could you please send me your e-mail address, I am sorry but I lost the paper you wrote it on. Thank you.)
I send my condolences and heart felt feelings for the loss of Guy. It was an honour to know him...........a truly kind and caring person.
Sincerely,
Debbie Bohunicky

Dear Mrs. Boulay, Tammy and Family,
I am sorry I am unable to be there physically - but please know that I am there in spirit. My thoughts and prayers have been with you all for the last year or so. I have fond memories of being a "spare child" in the Boulay household, having spent many school lunches and weekend sleepovers, always welcome in your home... I will always remember Mr. Boulay as a kind and concerned additional parent watching out for me.
Love,

So sorry for your family's great loss. .. I will always remember Guy's gentle and understanding nature... His enthusiasm for life, love and pride in his family, and his beautiful descriptions of the Island, "God's Country". He always had a kind word and that special smile. I feel fortunate to have known him (at St. Catharines Hydro).

It's hard to believe that it's been a whole year since Guy passed away.
Just want to let all of you know that you are in my thoughts.
He was so proud of all of you. I still remember how his eyes would twinkle when he would talk about all of you, at different times, at work.
It was so ironic this morning as for some reason......I had thought about work (I retired Feb. 1st) and Guy came to mind. After thinking that, I came to check my e-mail messages and here was the one from the funeral home saying it had been a year since he passed away.
Hoping that on the year anniversary perhaps you'll all get together and go to dinner, or do anything at all together..........in honour of him..........to celebrate his life. It's so much fun to get together and each person share one of their real good memories they have of the person. What a great man he was! (....and I'm sure STILL IS.....up in Heaven)
Sincerely,
Debbie Bohunicky
