I was deeply saddened to hear of the tragic loss of Peter. He was a fine man and he will be greatly missed. I remember having many conversations with Peter in our driveway on Glen Park Rd when he was dropping Caroline off or picking her up after spending time with Elizabeth. My deepest condolences to you Myra and the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was very saddened to hear of Mr. Bowen's death. I used to go to school with Caroline at Woodland and later at Governor Simcoe. No matter how busy Mr. Bowen seemed to be he always found time to say hi to us kids when we visited. My thoughts go out to Caroline and her family during this sad time. When you are up to it Caroline, I would love to hear from you. Your friend, Suzanne

Dear Myra and family:
I heard about Peter's accident from Pat Black, who was our secretary when we were both working in Acres Niagara Falls in the early 1970's. When I joined the firm I got to share an office with this brilliant Irishman who was always going like a rocket, full of enthusiasm and coming up with innovative ideas for instrumentation and then air flow modelling. He helped set the cross bar at a high level that we all had to reach for.
I have had occasional contacts over the years as he moved on to build his own business. Typical Peter, full of self confidence, and it was not surprising that his business was so successful. He came up with one innovative solution after another for his clients and his enthusiasm enveloped everyone. His skills coupled with Bill's in the lab were obviously a winning combination.
As noted by others, Peter made major contributions to the energy industry in North America as well as to the people around him. That legacy is well recognized and impressive was fascinated to see that your two children joined him in the business. That is really nice. I took my two sons to an engineering open house at U of T many years ago and they immediately decided that engineering was not for them! They headed for the business world, which was all the rage at the time and in fact where they have both done well, but.... It would have been nice to have them continue with some of their fathers interests... So, you will continue to have that pleasure.
As you may know, I lost my wife Diane a few years ago and I have moved on with my life and now live in Seattle where I have fun taking care of ageing dams and being managed by my wife Candy. One of my sons is in Keystone, Colorado and the other in Nelson, BC. They both have their own businesses and enjoy living in these beautiful recreational areas.
However, back to you and your loss. I was really upset to hear about this and wish you strength and fortitude as you battle through this tragic turn of events. Please accept my most sincere condolences.
Yours
Robin Charlwood

I have many fond memories of times spent with your family as a little girl. Aside from his many professional accomplishments, I remember Mr. Bowen as a dedicated and loving father and husband. He was always kind and welcoming and treated me with the same care and concern as he did everyone in his life. Later in my life he provided me with an opportunity to work in his company which gave me an early glimpse into the work-world and for which I am still thankful. Mr. Bowen impacted many lives in very positive ways and so it is with much sadness that we say good-bye. I wish your family peace and wellness during this tragic and difficult time. My condolences to you all.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth.

I would like to thank Peter and his family for everything that I have been able to do for my family. Without Peter and the Bowens there would be many of us who wouldn't have the lives that we lead today. Peter's contributions were not just to the engineering community but to the lively hoods of each person in his employ. A smarter more driven man, I don't think any of us will ever meet.
Our deepest sympathies

I was extremely saddened to hear of Peter's tragic fatal accident.
Our working relationship which rapidly turned into a friendship started in 1998. Peter, a truly outstanding professional engineer/entrepreneur, and his firm made numerous technical contributions to enhance the gas cleaning systems at Stelco's BOF and Sinter Plant facilities. I always looked forward to our simulating conversations and enjoyed his pleasant, outgoing personality.
My sincere condolences to the entire Bowen family.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Peter's passing. He was truly a great man, personally and professionally. He helped me greatly in my professional career but was also very personal and interested not only in business but in life. Peter always made it a point to ask me about my family when we talked. I appreciated this greatly and I enjoyed working with him so much. I regard him as much more than a business associate. He was truly a friend.

From the instant I became professionally associated with Peter, I recognized that he was a special person. His degree of professional competence, from theory to application, was first-rate. He had the ability to communicate his great knowledge in simple terms, and was never a person to elevate himself on a platform of technical superiority, though his accumulated knowledge was likely unique in all the world.
What I will miss most of Peter is his ability to do all of these things with a zest of genuine and infectious enthusiasm. I enjoyed being with Peter, the more complex and interesting the challenge at hand the better.
I can hear his rapid-fire narrative in my mind's ear now, and I will draw on his spirit as I continue on with my own life, professionally and personally.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Mark
