Obituary of Edward Melvin Cook

Cook, Edward Melvin Peacefully at home on Monday, January 23, 2006 in his 82nd year. Predeceased by wife Cecile (1993), survived by son Kevin, daughter Gail Holman, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, sister Olive Torretto (Hank), predeceased by sister Ivy Camp (Robert), brother Eric and he was favourite uncle of Jim Bradley, MPP. He was born in Pontypool, Wales and emigrated to Canada in 1928. In 1942 he joined the British Fleet Air Arm and served in Africa and the South Pacific until the end of the 2nd World War. He was an electrician, self employed with Thor Electric and later worked as a maintenance electrician at Canadian Home Products, Niagara Falls retiring in 1989. He was Past President and a Life Member of St. Catharines Legion Branch 24 and for many years was involved in Minor League hockey and baseball. He was an avid golfer and curler and a member of the St. Catharines Alumni Rowing Association. A Memorial Service will be celebrated in George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. A Royal Canadian Legion Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday. In lieu of flowers donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
