Obituary of Sonya Jean Brendzy

Brendzy, Sonya Jean (nee Glinski) January 12, 1941 - January 9, 2006 - After a courageous 35 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis in her 65th year. Sonya passed away at home with family and friends by her side. Survived by her husband William of 40 years. Cherished daughter (shopping buddy) Katrina Lee (Chuck) and loving son Chris (Lisa). Dear Baba of Benjamin. Sister of Marion Mikitzel, aunt to Paulanne Maddaloni (Tony), Yvonne Spera (Roman), Loretta Mikitzel (Robert Gareau). Great Aunt to Alexis, Cassandra and Paul Maddaloni; Walter and Alec Spera. Predeceased by her parents Eva (1990) and John Glinski (1993). A former elementary school teacher who always took part in her children's school activities through volunteering and teaching baking classes from home. Historically an active memeber and volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Sonya did not allow her "inconvenience" to impede her from living life to the fullest. She will be forever missed by all who loved and cared for her. Sonya is resting at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. Visitation will take place on Wednesday January 11, 2006 between 2-4 and 7-9pm. Panachyda will be held on Wednesday at 7pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. John Ukranian Catholic Church (91 Lakeshore Rd) on Thursday January 12, 2006 at 11am. Cremation will follow. Memorial donations may be made to either Multiple Sclerosis - Patient Service Niagara or St. John Ukranian Church Building Fund.
