OCZKOWSKI, Wladyslawa (Waldy)
August 7, 1935 - November 15, 2005.
Passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton on November 15, 2005 in the presence of her loving family.
Beloved wife of Jan for 52 years. Waldy and Jan immigrated to Canada in 1961 with two children, two suitcases and no language. Waldy devoted her life to her family and worked tirelessly so that her children had every opportunity. Cherished and devoted mother to Dr. Wieslaw Oczkowski of Hamilton, Yola Oczkowski of Kingston, and Barbara Cassidy of St.Catharines. Proud and loving Babcia to Simon, Colin, Aidan, Karl, Kelly, Jacob, Jacqueline and Veronica. Will be greatly missed by Allyn, Carol and Mike. Survived by her brothers Mieczyslaw, Tadeusz, Stanislaw, and Kazimierz of Poland and beloved sister Mila of Acton. Will be sadly missed by family and friends in Canada and Poland. Babcia will be remembered for her love of gardening, cooking, painting, and her grandchildren. Special thanks to the nurses at Henderson and St. Peter's Hospital, ParaMed Niagara, Dr. Mazurka, Dr. Zuliani, and Dr. Seeley. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Voreganti for her hope and compassion.
Mrs. Oczkowski is resting at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. A Funeral Mass honouring Waldy will be held at St. Julia Church on Saturday November 19, 2005 at 10am with cremation to follow. A reception will be held in the church parish hall after the mass. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of St. Peter's Hospital in Wladyslawa's memory.
