Obituary of Reverend John Clifton Bell

BELL, Reverend John Clifton Committed into God's care on Sunday August 7, 2005 in the presence of his family. Beloved husband of Barbara Bell and dear father of Diane Bell of St. Catharines and David Bell of London. John is survived by his sister Clara Wardle of Otterville ,his brother Robert (Wanda) Bell of Aylmer, his sister-in-law Jean Bell of Tillsonburg and extended family members. Predeceased by his brother William Bell of Tillsonburg and his parents, Charles and Gladys Bell of Springford. John was a graduate of McMaster University & McMaster Divinity College. He pastored Baptist Churches in Burtch & Scotland, Ontario and Bethany in Ottawa. John later served as a military chaplain and then came to St. Catharines in 1970 as a Probation & Parole Officer. He retired in December of 1993. John was an active member of Queen St. Baptist Church. John continued to serve the Convention Baptist churches of Niagara by doing many interim pastorates. John also served the community by being a member of the Salvation Army Board and the Niagara Rehab Board. He was an active member of the St. Catharines Skating Club at Ridley College. John's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday August 18th from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm and Friday, August 19th from 3-5 pm & 7-9 pm. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place on Saturday, August 20th at 11 am at Queen St. Baptist Church in St. Catharines. If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
