Obituary of Phyllis Pearl Arghittu

Arghittu (Evoy), Phyllis Pearl It is with great sorrow that our family announces that on September 13, 2007 our wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed on to be with her grandson, Devon (1976), and daughter Karren (1980) in heaven. Beloved wife (Tillie) for 64 years of Anthony Arghittu, loving mother of Michael (Pat), Christopher (Suzanne), devoted Nan to Rory (Elaine) MacKenzie, Krea Hunter, Dionne MacKenzie, Nicole MacKenzie, Shawndra (Lee) Kelly, Chad (Janet) Arghittu, Brendan (Krista) Arghittu and Shawn Arghittu and proud Great Nana of Michael, Brittany, Katie, Halle, Brandon, Davin, Garrett, Maggey, Lara and Cyle. Also survived by her sister, Vivian Ball in Bobcaygen, sister-in-law Mary Broughton, many nieces and nephews and life long friends Keith and Sylvia Morris. She was born on Christmas Day 1923 in Smith Falls, Ontario and was a gift to all who knew her. She was a past member of the "Happy Gang", the Glenridge Lawn Bowling Club, the Rockway Carpet Bowling Club and was an employee of Kresge's for many years. Her family was the center of her life. We will miss the family celebrations around her dinner table and her special talents in cooking and knitting. Her heart and her home were always open to anyone who needed her. She touched many lives. We'll miss you Mom! Mrs. Arghittu is resting at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. where family will receive friends on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 1 p.m. with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Heart and Stroke Society or the Niagara Health System Foundation.
