I tried to contact John years ago to tell him all about seeing John Barrowman on stage. I pulled out this one photograph I had of John G and I fooling around on the sofa in our apartment and Johns could have been twins. I had not heard from John so started googling him to find he was no longer with us. My heart was broken. I loved John as my friend and we were extremely close mates. John always brightened my day and was shocked that he was no longer with us. My time living in Vancouver was some of the best time in my life and I am pleased John was a part of those years. I am a mother myself now and really feel for John parents loss of two children. The grief must be unimaginable even after all this time. N x

I have a lot of fond childhood memories of John. At recess we would always play tag, trade stickers and have a lot of fun at St. Anne's school. I always remember John as being very kind and friendly. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Audette

I just wanted to say how sorry i am for your loss. I was very lucky to have met John many years ago. John used to come over to my parents place to hang out with my sister mandy and their gang of friends. I will always remember John for his very kind, caring and loving heart. No matter what mood you were in, John always found a way to make you smile and/or laugh. John will be sadly missed by all who were lucky enough to have met such a wonderful person.

Sorry to hear about John's passing, I remember him from his music lessons at the Niagara Conservatory of Music and John Lummen's School of Music, I was one of the guitar teachers there during 1991- 1998. He was a nice guy and played the piano well.

Hi, I was very sorry to hear of Johns death recently. I met him two and a half years ago when I moved to Vancouver from the UK and he was one of my earliest friends in the city. He was unlike many other people I met and had a number of qualities that are hard to find, not least his approachable nature. He was very easy to talk to and without doubt helped me settle here, a long way from home. Although we lost touch over the last year his passing has saddened me and our friends deeply and you have our heartfelt sympathy at this difficult time.
Kind regards,
Phil Cornthwaite.

Dear the family and friends of Johnny
I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Johnny. I went to elementary school with Johnny, and Tommy at St. Ann and St. James. Through these years I have many great memories of him. He was a great friend to everyone as you know, and always had a positive attitude and a smile for everyone. Looking at all he has accomplished, in his short time here, is something to be proud of. It is devastating to hear that Johnny is now with Tommy. My heart and prayers go to you and your family, and friends at this difficult time.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Grdovich-
You likely would not remember me, but I was an old class mate of both John (at St. James and H.C. & Tommy as well) and had helped you with Tommy's funeral when he had passed away, when I worked at George Darte Funeral Chapel. If I am not mistaken, Mrs. Grdovich, you had helped my mother after some surgery at the St. Catharines General Hospital a few years back. I remember your genuine care and compassion for my mother's well-being.
I wanted to tell you how saddened I was to read of John's sudden passing. I remember him more-so from St. James days as being such a positive and energetic guy. I hope that in the days to come when you are feeling down, your spirits will be raised by the remembrance of two lives lived with many gifts which I'm sure you both bestowed on your boys. So long as you keep both John and Tommy in your hearts and minds, they will never be far from you. Thinking of you today...

Janet, I do not know John. When I read about him in the Vancouver Sun, I am very sad about him passing at such a young age. I am sorry about the sad news. I hope all of you are coping well. He has gone to a better place " Heaven " I totally understand your feeling. My wife past away when she was very young and my daughter was 9 yrs old at that time.... It took me about 6 yrs to overcome.
We will pray for you and your family.

To John's family & friends,
l have just learned of John's death, having been out of the country on sabbatical this past few months. I was one of John's professors at UBC and thought very highly of him. One is not supposed to have favourites of course, but some students bring something special to their studies and John was one of them. We were all very saddened when he felt unable to continue his studies with us because there was no doubt of his ability to master post graduate studies. I remember urging him to stay the course but the timing was not right for him. It is sad to think how short his time was to be. Some stars burn bright and briefly. I am glad to have known him and I hope that it is a comfort to you to know that while he was a long way away from you he was held in high regard by those who knew him in Vancouver.
I wish you the strength to endure his loss.
Respectfully,
Professor Richard Sullivan
