Michael and I were friends since we met at the University of Windsor, over 35 years ago. While we didn't see each other often since I moved away from Ontario in 1995, we always spoke at least once per year. He usually called as an assumed character. I believe the last one was Dr. Thambuswamy.
I am so proud of what he achieved in his life- I can't imagine the belief and dedication it took to become a priest. He must have heard the owl call his name.
We had thoughtful discussions and I also remember the fun times (at least some of them) we shared together. I still laugh when I recall him requesting that the chamber orchestra at my wedding to Marilyn, "Play something we know."
I say these things with deep love and affection. We were lucky to have known him.
Our condolences to all family and friends,
Richard and Marilyn Whaley

When Ted and I chose Michael to be the god-father of our daughter Stasia, we knew that he would take the responsibility seriously. What we did not know at that time, was just how much a part of our family he would become. I was so proud of his ordination, as I knew that Michael had found his true calling.
I will always remember the joy with which he lived. I remember one time, many years ago, when we went to a movie together. Michael's infectious laughter rang through the theatre, bringing joy to an otherwise mundane experience. The world is a sadder place without his laughter.
I was proud to call him Kym. I will remember Michael in my prayers and send my sincere condolences to his family.

My heart was truly broken today when I read about my Ukie friend Micheal passing away. I first met Michael over forty years ago at a Ukrainian Youth Convention in Sudbury and we have been friends ever since. I was there to see him become a minister and was so very proud of him. God is very lucky to have this new angel with his quick humoured wit and his contagious laugh by his side. Heaven is truly in for a treat. Micheal I am going to miss you so much and I hope this big hug and kiss reaches you in heaven. LOVE YOU BETTYANN AND FAMILY!

Even though we were not related by blood, for my family Michael was a brother, an uncle, and a true friend. He was always a ready listener, a wonderful storyteller, and a positive force in our lives whenever present. His civility, intelligence, and spirit enriched us through good times and bad, and will continue to enrich us going forward. He will be missed.

It was with great shock and sadness that I received the news of Mike's untimely passing. My prayers and condolences are extended to his father and family.I knew Mike for over 50 years and have many fond memories of him. He was quite the character. To say his friends were surprised when he became a minister is an understatement, but as Mike said " I felt a calling"
I will certainly miss one of the funniest guys I knew.
