Obituary of Piotr (Peter) Biczel

Biczel, Piotr (Peter) - Passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 6, 2007 at the Hotel Dieu - Shaver Hospital with his family by his side. Best friend and devoted husband of 54 years to Stella. Loving father of John (Joanne) of St. Catharines, Peter (Julie) of St. Catharines and Steven (Sandy) of Niagara Falls. Proud and cherished Grandpa of Julie (Ryan), Jennifer, Ashleigh (Gord), Jared, Hilary (Steve) and special Gpa to Hailie Stephen. Piotr will be greatly missed by his sisters-in-law Nellie Matwijow (Walter) of Thorold, Cathy Mullan (Don) of Niagara Falls, Vicki Butler (Doug) of Welland, Muriel Gibow of Dundas and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister-in-law Nina and brother-in-law Marc. Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the excellent care and compassion shown to Piotr and family during his illness by staff, his doctors and especially nurses at the St. Catharines General Hosptial and Shaver Hospital. Mr. Biczel is resting at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street until 10:30am on Friday. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 11am. A graveside committal will follow the church service at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30pm. As an expression of sympathy, memorial remembrances may be made to either Heart and Stroke and Children's WIsh Foundation in Piotr's honour.
