Obituary of Antonio Candelino

CANDELINO, Antonio "Tony" In loving memory of Antonio "Tony" Candelino who passed suddenly yet quietly in the afternoon of November 10th at the St.Catharines General Hospital. Tony died peacefully and with great dignity, surrounded by friends and family. He was 64 years old. Born the youngest of five children to Vincenzo and Nicoletta on Oct.19th, 1942, in Vallata, Italy, Tony was a hard-working, self-made man who married his long-time love, Carmela (nee Paternostro), in 1964. They immigrated to Canada a year later. He quickly built a successful contracting business, Candelino Bros., which he led proudly until his retirement a few years ago. Tony was a devoted father to Stefania and husband Mustafa Segayer, Gerry and wife Rachel (Meffe) and Roberto and wife Carolyn (Martino). He was also the very proud and loving "Nonno Tony" to four grandsons - Adam, Anthony, Lucas and Christian. We have already lost two of Tony's four siblings - Gerardo of St.Catharines and Carmine of Italy. He is survived by brother, Rocco and sister, Maria Luigia in Italy. He also leaves behind 7 in-laws, among them are Angelo and Maria Paternostro of St.Catharines. He had 45 first nieces and nephews. Tony's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street , St. Catharines on Sunday, November 12th and Monday, November 13th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Vigil Prayers for Tony on Monday afternoon at 3pm. Funeral Liturgy will take place at St. Alfred's Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street on Tuesday, November 14th at 11am with entombment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Liver Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Tony was a fun-loving man who, even in his last days, generously shared his warmth and love with everyone who knew him. Now he is with God. Earth's loss is Heaven's gain.
