Obituary of Anne Mary Timco

Timco, Anne Mary (nee Smilnak) Passed away peacefully at St. Catharines General Hospital on Thursday, November 9, 2006 with her family at her side. She was the beloved widow of Stanley John Timco (1992), dearly loved mother of Sandra (Sandie), Dr. Garry (Connie Mason) of Ottawa, Pam (Don) Klager and Jan (Mike) Barrette of Burlington. Anne was cherished grandmother of Jason (Christine) Klager, Jessica (Travis) Froats, Jeremy (Amanda) Klager, Kristy Timco, Andrew (Laurie Jane) Klager, Paul Barrette and Katelyn Barrette. She will be dearly missed by four great grandchildren Noah, Charlie, Ethan Klager and Emerson Froats. She was also survived by a sister, Sophie (Joe) Beaulieu. Anne was a source of inspiration to all, instilling values of honesty, integrity and continuous love. Her legacy of inspiration included her strong sense of character, determination and passion for her family. She was predeceased by her parents Stephen and Sophie Smilnak and one sister Mary (Frank) Vitez of Cambridge-Galt. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and the United States. Anne was born on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1924 in Bardejov, Slovakia. She moved to Canada when she was 7 years old. She was the voice of Slovak radio on CKTB in the 1940's. Along with her husband Stan, and a few others, Anne was instrumental in forming the Grantham Township Separate School Board. They built St. Christopher's School in Grantham Township ,now, St. Catharines. She was a volunteer with St. John's Ambulance and enjoyed sewing, even taking tailoring in night school. Mom was well known for her delicious home cooked meals and baking signifying her love of family and friends. Mom's friends and family always looked forward to her Christmas cookies each year. She was one of the first Regal Stationery reps in the area. She was a member of St. Alfred's Church and the Catholic Women's League for over 40 years. Anne worked as a medical receptionist for over 20 years for pediatrician Dr. Leo MacGillivray. She continued her association with Niagara Regional Medical Secretaries long after her retirement. She resided at St. Catharines Place, the old Timco farmstead. Anne is resting at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. until Monday at 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Alfred's Church at 11 a.m. with Rite of Committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting Hours Sunday 1-3 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers for the deceased will be held in the funeral home Sunday at 7 p.m. Memorial Remembrances can be made to MS Research, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ashrabi for his superlative medical care throughout moms surgery and aftercare in Intensive Care Unit of St. Catharines General Hospital.
