Obituary of Edith Gebe
Gebe, Edith
Peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2006 at St. Catharines General Hospital. Wife of her first love and husband Les who vowed to take good care of her always and has for 64 years. She will be terribly missed by her three girls who she loved unconditionally, Diane Tremblay-Gebe, Linda (Bob) Hewitt, Debbie (Ted) Kretz. She gave us life, security, little secrets and her favourite, a little whimsy. Mom is survived by brother Bob Bartlett, and brothers-in-law Bill (Kathy) Gebe and Charlie (Luba) Gebe. She was predeceased by many family members, but was inconsolable to lose her only grandson, Landon. Mom was a giving person who gave to anyone struggling, Women's Place, Diabetic Society, Salvation Army. Mom had an expertise arranging beautiful flowers that she gave to friends and neighbours. She would thoughtfully send little cards to others "just because". The family is grateful that Dr. Curly came into her life. We thank him for his wisdom, understanding and compassion for the elderly and their families. The nurses in Palliative Care helped keep mom comfortable and free from pain. Thank you.
Family will receive friends at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. Donations can be made to St. Catharines General Hospital Palliative Care or Women's Place (St. Catharines).
