It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Shirley on Wednesday,October 11, 2006 at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital. Surrounded by her family, Shirley peacefully left her loved ones after a courageous one year journey with cancer. Survived by her best friend and husband of 53 years, Joseph. Dearly loved and admired mother of Fr. Randy Gallant, Kevin and Nina Gallant and Lori and Joe Lee. Loving nana to Rylan Gallant and her soon to arrive grandson, Carter Lee. Also survived by sisters Mary (Allan) North, Norma (Charles) Burse, brother Clarence Konkle, sister in laws Hilda Konkle, Blanche Konkle, Mary Goulet, step mother in law Adrienne Gallant and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and in laws, Clarence and Jean Konkle and Emile and Annie Gallant, brother Albert Konkle and brother in laws Raymond Goulet and Charles Burse. Shirley was a member of St. Denis Church and the Catholic Women's League for over 50 years. Shirley will be sadly missed by her family and so many wonderful friends. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love and support that was extended during Shirley's illness.
Shirley is resting at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. until Monday at 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Denis Roman Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with cremation to follow. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers for Shirley will be celebrated in the funeral home on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael's Church Front Foyer Building Fund, Fort Erie or Canadian Cancer Society.
