Obituary of Wynifred Aitken
Aitken, Wynifred (Wyn) Peacefully on Thursday September 21st, 2006, at Henley House, at 100 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Jack Aitken. Devoted Mother of Jackie Lever (George) of St.Catharines. Precious Nana of Shannon (Tim Sewell), Jenniffer (Chris Key) of Brisbane, Australia, Ron (Sacci Oishi) of Whistler, B.C., and Steve of St. Catharines. Cherished Great Nana of Erin, Jackson and Georgia. Predeceased by her son Darwyn, 6 brothers and 3 sisters . Wyn will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Wyn played the church organ for most of her adult life, retiring a few years ago as organist and director of the Italian choir at St. Alfred's Church. Wyn was an elementary school teacher, retired from the St. Catharines Catholic School Board. Wyn was an avid bridge player ( St. Alfred's Seniors ) and a member of the Catholic Women's League for 60 years. Wyn was blessed with many friends and lead a full life.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Alfred's Church on Monday September 25th at 9:30am. Rite of committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. At Wyn's request there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers donations to Community Care, St. Catharines and Thorold, would be appreciated by the family.
