Obituary of Mavis Audrey Mulholland

MULHOLLAND, Mavis Audrey - Passed away peacefully on September 4, 2008 in her 84th year at Chateau Gardens, Niagara-on-the-Lake. Beloved wife of the late Charles (1999). Sadly missed by her daughter Cecilia (Jeff) Fedorov and son Joseph (Stacey). Devoted nana to Stephanie and James. Predeceased by her brother Aubrey and two sisters Marjorie and Jean. Mavis was born in Poona, India. She was a graduate of Queen Mary's College (University of Madras) and also a graduate of the Froebel Education Institute , Roehampton, London England. Mavis taught in India at La Martiniere Girl's High School, Lucknow, and in Baldwin girl's High School Bangalore. In England she taught at "Kingsley" Horley, Surrey, Lady Edward's, Chelsea Froebel School in London, and Berrymede Infant's School, Acton London. Mavis also taught at St. Patrick's in Niagara Falls and St. Joseph's in St. Catharines where she retired in 1987. She belonged to the Ontario Association for Superannuated Women Teachers and the Retired Teachers of Ontario. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines on Sunday September 7 from 2 - 5 p.m.with vigil prayers at 2:30 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Niagara-on-the-Lake on Monday September 8 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Special thanks to the caring staff of Chateau Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
