Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Turner

Turner, Margaret Elizabeth (McKenzie) - Passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, August 25, 2008 at the age of 66. Beloved wife of Douglas for 39 years. Loving mother of Kathryn Loach and husband Clay, Stewart and wife Donna, Ronna, Larry and wife Nicole. Cherished Grandmother of Kate, Jillian, Erik and Sophie. Daughter of the late Clarence and Helen McKenzie. Sister of Bertha Campbell (Jack), Sybil Freeman (Glenn), Rennie (Alison), Freddie (Jeannie), Brian (Cheryl), Donald and the late John (Bev). Margaret was a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a past Matron of Garden City Chapter #53, and was active as a chaplain of Lincoln Chapter #142 until she was overtaken by her illness. A sincere thank you to all of our family and friends who supported us and surrounded Margaret with so much love during this difficult time. Margaret is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street. Visiting hours are Wednesday between 2-4 and 7-9pm. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held in the Silver Spire United Church (formerly St. Paul Street United Church), 366 St. Paul St. at 11am on Thursday. Interment will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens following the church service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Research and Education Fund or Hospice Niagara.
