May 3, 1928 - August 10, 2008
Howard is survived by his beloved wife Joan of 57 years.
Loving father of Cheryl, Barbara and John (Trish). Cherished grandfather of Jacob, Frank, Emily, Graham, Reilly, Taylor, Anca, Sorin, Dylan and Justin. Dear brother of Ron. Predeceased by his parents Marjorie & John and by his siblings Alan, Don and Dorothy. Howie was an accomplished athlete and played hockey for the Toronto Marlboros (OHL) and Montreal Royals (QSHL) and the Edmonton Flyers (WHL). He enjoyed a successful career in sales and retired in 1995. He was an avid golfer (Pine Valley, Barrie Country Club) enjoyed wood carving and fishing. His great love was for his family and 10 grandchildren. Howard will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A special thank you to the staff at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph's Urology Unit for their kindness and gentle care. In accordance with Howard's wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held in the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at 12 p.m.. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
