Russell Cousins posted a condolence
Thursday, July 17, 2008
The Cousins family, Riley, Franki, and Russell would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of David. David was a true friend in the real sense of the word friend. He was also a medical trainer with the teams I coached in the Merriton Athletic Association and with the Spartan Rep Hockey Association in the 1990's. He was a valuable member of each team he was a part of. He was always thoughtful and considerate with a smile for everyone. I was always personally struck by David's concern for others. He was an inspiration to my family and I on many levels and though it's been some time since David and I spoke his influence on my family and I will always remain with us. I especially remember driving through a snow storm to a tournament in Delhi one year and how concerned he was that the kids and their families not get into an accident along the way. It was usually all about others with David and he always had my respect because of it. He was fun to be around and always good company even if I wasn't. We will miss you David but the memories we have of you will always be with us and for that we are grateful. The world we live in could use more people like Dave Dawdy - thank you, David.

We will always remember how happy David was! We also hold fond memories of Fowle family get togethers with David around, he really loved "our" Grandma and Grandpa. Aunt Nan and Uncle Lloyd, our thoughts are with you during this time. Please know David will be missed, he was genuinely warm and caring. Charlie (almost 3) wanted to know if David was happy now, I said yes, he is, and always was.

Cathy and I are very sorry to hear of this news. We never talked with Dave personally but I know that my son Christopher, who played net this past year, appreciated his commitment to the Juvenile Hockey Team. He will be greatly missed by all coaching staff and players alike. It was partially because of Dave that the boys and parents enjoyed their hockey season. He was a good volunteer and it is hard to find someone who spends this much time helping others for our enjoyment. Thankyou Dave for the time you touched our lives.

Lloyd, Nancy and family...I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the sudden loss of my cousin David. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you, the entire Dawdy family now and for always. Though we don't see or talk to each other often due to distance and all that goes with our own lives please know that my family is always in my thoughts and my heart not just now but always. My fondest memory of David will be at Aunt Kay and Uncle's Stan's back yard when we were just kids, summer time, playing with the kittens and the dog, watching the mini golf and David smiling, laughing and always when I saw him a sparkle in his eyes. I wish we could be there with you all for the service. Know that we will be thinking of you all and will say a special prayer for David and all of you. Love Tracy Trevor Vincent Victoria Jessika William Craig and Kyle

Lloyd, Nancy, & the Dawdy Family:
We didn't know David all that well, but the few times we were in each other's company, like everyone said, he always had a smile on his face for everyone. We don't really understand why God takes the young, but He has his reasons. I guess He feels David was with you & all his friends long enough, & now it's time to share his smiling face & helping ways in Heaven. God Bless, & remember the happy times, that's what will help keep you going.
Our love & thoughts are with you now & always.
Donna & Ron

Dear David, I'm sorry that I was just a stepsister and not a sister from the moment of birth... I am thankful for the time we had nonetheless and will miss you and all the things I never had the chance to say. The last time I saw you was on the way back from Muskoka about a month ago, you were in a truck on the highway with your uncle I think... I was going to wave but didn't want to distract the driver... if I had only known it would have been the last time I saw you I would have waved, stopped the car and run over and given you a big hug!
Thank you for being the sweetest, loving brother that you were! Like everyone says, you were always smiling and happy, and even more so, happy to be with family. And even more impressive was that you were consistently like that even after a lifetime of serious medical issues. I remember when we were kids and my mom telling me about your heart problems and everything you had been through... I was scared. Scared for you and scared by what life could be like... you went on to do so much!
I never got to tell you this but I've always been impressed by your courage and big heart! I hope you can know this now. You will be missed always by your sister Amy and your nephew Mac xoxox
