My father Jack Pennington was good friends with Johnny, they were in the Royal Canadian Navy together and played in the Memorial Band and whenever we went back to Canada for a visit he would come and visit us at my Nagymama's. You must miss him very much. I pray that the Lord will be a great comfort to all of the family during this time. He knew me as Lonnie Pennington.
Sincerely, ilona J Somers.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

I am saddened for the loss of John Terdik. The notice was forwarded to me by my Mother, Elizabeth Pennington. I had known that John had been ill, but it was still a shock when I read the obituary. More-so since a couple of years ago when I was working in Toronto, I made a concerted effort to look John up and spend some time with him. A lot had changed in the thirty odd years since I had seen him last, but he greeted me and made me feel welcome like it was yesterday. We chatted as though it hadn't been decades.
What I also took away from that visit was the strength he imparted with his ongoing battle, and optimism with his treatment.
He was a friend of my father and mother and my Godfather, not seen often by me, but always with a firm grip, and a feeling of welcome.
My prayers are with you, and I hope that they will help you in your time of need.

Winky, Barb and Family,
I am very shocked and saddened to hear about John's passing away and I am truly sorry for your loss. You must all be devestated. I wish that I could be there for the service but the life of an expat means you have to deal with bad news on your own; I'll be sure to say a prayer and raise a glass in John's honour! I'll always remember him as a kind man who was fun to be around (and all those scrappy Hungarian put-downs too!). Peter and I wish you much love and happy memories during this difficult time and we're thinking of you.
Love,
Andrea and Peter
