Dear Mrs. West and family,
Just want to say I am truly sorry for your loss of your husband and step father. I knew Rob through our union work, he was my union rep, I know how much he loved his wife because at all our meetings he would discuss the next trip he was going to take with his wife and everytime he would tell us he had a grin from ear to ear and a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed by all of us. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I found a saying or a letter that was of great comfort to me when my sister in law passed away 3 months ago and if you ever would like me to send it to you please feel free to contact me through my e-mail address. I just want to say I am so sorry for your loss once again. Take care of yourself and Rob will be missed. Mary L. Miles

Dear Sharon and Family.
Your loss is felt by all that had the opportunity to meet, work or share a friendship with Rob. I am grateful to have been one of the fortunate people that crossed paths with this considerate, loving and giving person. Rob may have been quiet at most times, but his words were always spoken with thought and calmness. Rob showed his passion for life with his work, hobbies, travel and most importantly, his family.
"People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how character is built." I believe this best describes Rob.

Dear Sharon and Family:
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family at this difficult time.
I have had the pleasure to come to know and work with Rob for the past 7 years when our Locals became one provincial Union. Rob immediately became a friend and someone I could always share a laugh and a vacation story with when we met up at Head Office or in bargaining. His strong voice and caring commitment will be missed deeply within our SEIU family.

We are sad to hear of the passing of our old friend Bob. We both attended Lakeport secondary school with him back in the sixties. Rick remembers bowling with Bob and Art Bicknell every Saturday morning for most of those years. He also remembers staying with Bob and his mother during the summer of 1969. Bob is remembered as a kind and generous person. Our condolences to his family.

Dear Sharon and family
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. I had the honour to work with Rob at SEIU where he always set the bar higher for everyone to follow. His commitment to his work was inspiring to all. He was quite but very effective and persistent in fighting for what he stood for. I will always remember him for his high standards, compassion and understanding. I will also remember his smile. I have good memories of Rob and I hope during this time you will also only remember the good times. I am very sorry that I will be unable to attend the service as I am in Montreal with my family.
Yours truly

I would like to offer my condolences to Rob's family. He was my union rep for many years. About a year ago, I became a union stewart. With Rob's encouragement, I became the Chief Stewart. Rob was always there for me; encouraging me and walking me through every process. I wouldn't be where I am today without Rob's help. He was the reason I joined the central bargaining committee There, Rob became so much more than my Rep; he became my friend! He was a kindhearted man who will be truly missed by all who knew him! SEIU has definitely suffered the loss of a great man!

Dear Sharon and family,
My deepest condolences on the loss of your husband and father. I worked with Rob for a number of years at Service Employees International Union, Local 1 before I retired five years ago. He was a thoughtful, intelligent and kind man. He only spoke when he had something worthwhile to say which, in my opinion, is a rare gift in the labour movement. We needed more like him and he will be sorely missed. I hope you are given the strength to carry on through these difficult days and that SEIU makes it as easy as possible for you,
Judi
