Obituary of Frank DeSantis

DeSantis, Frank Passed away peacefully at the Hamilton General Hospital on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Mary for 61 years. Loving father of Victor (Lindy), Donald, Louise (Ray) Librock. Special Grandpa to Ramona, Nick, Johanna, Carlo, Mary, Christina, Cindy and Vincent. Predeceased by his son Michael (2007), and by his brothers Tony, Angelo, Joseph, and by his parents Carmine and Albina. Frank was born in Toronto and resided on Currie St. in St. Catharines for 80 years. Frank was a member of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment during World War II and served overseas in Belgium, France, Germany and Holland. He was a parishioner of St. Alfred's Parish since its inception, and spent many Saturday evenings calling bingo as well as Ushering for Sunday Masses. Frank enjoyed bowling, spending time outdoors, fishing, feeding the birds, and enjoying the Casino. He was an avid follower of Mike Weir's golfing career. More importantly, Frank was a devoted husband and caring father and will be missed by all who knew him. Mr. DeSantis' family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Friday, April 25, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 3 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Alfred Church, on Saturday April 26, 2008, at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hamilton General Hospital I.C.U. West, Hamilton General Cardiac Care Unit, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
