Obituary of Edward Bruce James

JAMES EDWARD After many years of following in his footsteps, Edward now walks with his Lord. It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband and father, Edward Bruce James at the St. Catharines General Hospital, on Sunday March 9th, 2008, in his 70th year. Loving husband of Diana Ivy (Billings) for 49 years. Devoted father to Paula (Bob Gibson), Sara (Tom) Schalk and Peter. Lovingly remembered by his cherished grandchildren Anna and Sadie Schalk and Kurtis and Micah James. Predeceased by his parents Florence and Ernest James. Dear brother of Carol, Byron (Arlene), Kathy Moore all of Hamilton and Stewart of Vancouver. Brother-in-law of Sharon Scott and Douglas (Barb) Billings of Hamilton. Survived by many nieces and nephews. In 1965, Edward and partners formed the firm of Wheels Brakes and Equipment Ltd. of Hamilton, distributors of heavy-duty components for the transport industry. Most recently the C.E.O. of Wheelpower Equipment, specializing in resource, recovery and reforestation process technology and heavy equipment systems. Edward's priorities were always his family and his church. He was ordained a ruling elder over 48 years ago in the Presbyterian Church of Canada and Knox Kirk Session where he served for 20 years as Clerk of Session. He was involved with the St. Catharines Downtown Rotary Club, a charter member and Past President of the St. Catharines Lakeshore Rotary Club with special interest in the International Youth Exchange Program. A memorial service to celebrate Edward's life will be held in Knox Presbyterian Church, 53 Church St., St. Catharines, on Saturday, March 15th at 2:30pm. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Knox Presbyterian Church
