Obituary of Dorothy McConnell

McConnell, Dorothy Passed on peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at St. Catharines General Hospital. Predeceased by her beloved husband Reverend Desmond McConnell (1991), devoted mother of June and Mike Wade of Penticton, B.C., Jim and Cathy McConnell and Paul McConnell all of St. Catharines, cherished Nana of Ethan and Jolene Wade, Ainslie Wade and Darcy Wade all of Penticton, B.C., Megan and Patrick McConnell both of St. Catharines. Dorothy was looking forward to the birth of 2 great grandchildren this summer. Loved sister of Bertha and Al Allen and favourite auntie to Brenda, Linda, Kathy and Donna all of Springhill, Nova Scotia. Sister-in-law to James, Stanley and Marta, Betty McConnell all of Northern Ireland, Bertie and Marta McConnell of Collingwood. Predeceased by her father and mother, Herbert and Martha Hughes and her brother Jim Hughes. Dorothy was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, Carleton United Church, Faith Community Church and Garden City Baptist Church. Dorothy was a longtime member of the Chapel Singers. Dorothy's family will receive friends at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with interment in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Dorothy being a strong supporter, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Dorothy was a gracious lady who loved to entertain with her funny stories, a "wee cuppa tea" and her famous cream puffs.
