Obituary of Gordon Joseph Mealey
MEALEY, Gordon Joseph- Passed away peacefully in his home with his loving family by his side, on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, after a brave fight with cancer. Forever loved and cherished husband of 60 wonderful years of Celin�©re (nee LaPointe). Loving dad of Linda (Clarence) Boudreau, Patsy (Tom) Ashby, Cynthia (Rick) Mason, Kevin (Annie) Mealey, Jocelyn (Derek) Knight, Don (Lynn) Mealey, and Darlene (Emil) Cesar. Special Papa to 16 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Gordon is also survived by three sisters. Predeceased by five brothers and three sisters. Mr. Mealey served in World War Two and the Korean War, but his biggest fight was his courageous battle with cancer. Gordon was an active and proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24. A special thanks to Angela from Molly Maids, Marlyn Benson of D.V.A., Dr. Sandra Hartman and all support workers who cared for Gordon during his illness. A special thank you to Monsignor Kirkpatrick for his spiritual support during this difficult time. Mr. Mealey is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., until Friday at 12:30 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated in the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, 3 Lyman St., on Friday, February 15, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. Rite of committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Public visitation will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. and Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited Thursday evening at 7:30, followed by a legion service. If desired, expressions of sympathy will be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
